Texas Residential Construction

This article is directed toward Texas residents looking for information on how to start and successfully lead an improvement project for the home. A construction project (especially residential construction) isn't something that should be taken lightly and a lot of research and consideration needs to be put into it before one can even get started properly! The following will highlight some of the important things involved with your Texas residential construction project:

The most important aspect of constructing various projects is to be absolutely sure you have all of the required permits to start and complete your project. You don't want a project to be forced to an end because you were too lazy to verify which permits you needed. Do this step first! This is especially important when performing construction in Texas metropolitan areas such as Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and El Paso.

Depending on if your project will take place indoors or outdoors, you will need to consider the weather as a factor in whether it is or isn't the right day to begin work. If the residential construction project will occur indoors, then one can assume nearly any day is fine to work. If it's outdoors, make sure it's not raining or that it isn't too cold or too hot.

In Texas, you probably don't need to worry about it being too cold like you would in Colorado where I'm from, but being too hot may definitely be a possibility. San Antonio construction and Houston construction can be quite hot and humid in the dead of summer. El Paso construction can be painfully hot as well, but more like a desert heat.

No one can work in the direct heat without it being a health hazard, so if your home construction is taking place in the midst of summer, make sure to work (or have your hired workers work) during the morning hours of 6 to 9 am or in the late afternoon and evening from 4 to 7 pm or so. The hours of 10 am - 3 pm are extremely dangerous to be exposed constantly to the burning sun - even with sunscreen protection. In south Texas, it is most likely best to start outdoor construction in the fall, winter or spring (depending on their projected length of time from start to finish) and try to avoid summer construction projects.
